Well, I did my interview for the courthouse job and I didn't get it. That is ok with me though because now I can be with Seth all the time. I am going to go back to school full time and throughout the summer so that hopefully I will be getting my first degree by the end of next year. I guess we will have to see what happens until then.
For now, Seth and I have been staying at the ranch a lot lately. It has been hectic trying to get all our summer chores done and start the projects we have had laying around all winter. This was a cold winter so we didn't get the things done that we probably should have. I just got a new horse, Dolly. I have been working with her a lot lately. For those of you who know me, I have not been around horses my whole life so this part of the lifestyle, along with many others, are often intimidating and stressful. I always wanted a horse, especially a black one. Growing up, this was a completely unrealistic dream but now I have accomplished it! She was already broke but she wasn't trained well enough or worked with enough so I have to go through the whole process again with her to build up that trust between us. She has become a good friend and I tell her everything! Little by little we are working together so that hopefully I can get on her by the end of the month. We need her so we can get our cows moved up to the hills at the beginning of June. She has her good days and her awful days, not really anything in between. She has an attitude but I guess so do I. I am a naturally shy quite person and she is naturally dominate and aggressive so working with her is really building my character and skills as a horseman and rider. We are building a bond I have never had with another animal and it is amazing.
Seth recently built himself a drag. He welded a cutting edge and other metal together to smooth out our roads at the ranch. He has taught me how to weld before and he let me try on this project as well. I am not very good at welding but I kind of enjoy it. I think it is fun and I hope I will get to keep doing it. We got the drag all done and we hook it up to our side by side. There were a few flaws the first go around but we can get those figured out easy. It worked really well actually and hopefully we will be driving in comfort!
We are starting our garden again this year. Seth dug it up again and we have our tomatoes and peas growing inside already. We are going to get more beans, corn, lettuce, watermelon, peppers, and cucumbers. Last year, we got a lot of a few things. We had so many pumpkins and cucumbers we didn't know what to do with them. We have so many different kinds of canned pickles, its ridiculous! We had too many pumpkins as well and we didn't do anything with any of ours so we aren't going to plant any of those this year. We will keep you updated with how our garden grows this year.
I hope you all have a wonderful week!
