We Have Wifi Again!!

This past week I was able to go on a run with Seth to Vernal Utah. We left Casper about four o'clock and 80* outside. We got to Rock Springs a little later and drove through the switchbacks past the Flaming Gorge in a complete white out blizzard. It went down to 32* and snowed like you would not believe. Hello? Isn't it June?! Well besides that and staying up for forty hours straight, the run was interesting, I suppose. I was able to be with Seth for that time instead of in the apartment alone. Though I was glad to be with him, I don't think I will ever go on another run with him. It was miserable and I honestly would never wish the lifestyle of being a trucker on anyone. But I guess that is just me!

If Seth and I could travel to anywhere in the world, we would pick Europe. Seth wants to go to Scotland, because of the kilts, castles, and bagpipes. Though I do want to see castles and possibly men in kilts, I am not looking forward to Seth having the opportunity to play the bagpipes. It might possibly sound worse that me learning to play the violin. I would rather go to Austria, for the sole purpose of loving the movie "The Sound of Music." Austria isn't really a tourist trap of a country and I am not sure there are many things to see there but I would enjoy going there one day. On my list are also Italy, France, England, Australia, and Ireland. Seth and I wouldn't do well vacationing in places such as the Bahamas and Hawaii. I burn even thinking about being outside in the sun and well, that isn't really Seth's scene. We would rather go to Alaska then Jamaica. Maybe one day we will cross off at least one of these places from our bucket list.

Seth has already traveled to many places while he was young and crazy. The farthest he went was Mexico, but he also went to many places that I have never been, like New York and Las Vegas. For our Honeymoon, we went to Washington State and staying in a cute bed and breakfast in Olympia. We were able to go to the ocean and see many beautiful sights. On the way back, we went through Yellowstone and got to see Old Faithful. That is as far as my crazy adventures go. Right now, my crazy adventure is Casper and we will see how I do in this journey!

A Week in Casper

Seth and I are in Casper this week. We don't have wifi at our apartment yet and that is why this is so late and why I am sitting in the Mcdonalds parking lot writing this right now.

It has been a crazy week, surprise surprise. We got our branding done this week thanks to our wonderful family who came from Lusk to help us! It went fast and pretty easy besides one of our crazy cows. We have had her for three years and still haven't got a brand on her or been able to get her in a trailer because every time we get her in the corrals she jumps the fence, no matter how strong that part of the fence is. We can chase her all over the ranch to get her back in and she just jumps another fence. Every time we get her in she either has a calf or is bred. Hopefully we can skip breeding her this year and get some steak out of her finally.

We are lucky enough to get to have our nephew, Jacob, for the summer. He will be helping out at the ranch so hopefully we won't fall behind on all our work between the ranch and driving.

Seth is on a run right now and has been gone for the last three days. I am excited to say that he will be back in a few hours. I am definitely a small town girl, not a city girl. It has been interesting for me to drive and find my way around this crazy place. The good thing is that yesterday I got a job. I am very excited about it and it sounds just like the perfect job we need to fit our random crazy schedule. I was just going there to meet the Director of Nursing and get an application. He ended up showing me around the place. It is an assisted living place and I will pretty much be reminding the residents about lunch and wii bowling with them. He took me into one of the ladies rooms to meet her and her family. We went into his office after and said he wants to extend the job to me. My interaction with the resident was my interview even though I didn't know it until after. I am excited to get started on this new journey in my life!!

Well, I better go get some McDonalds so my stomach can stop growling. Hopefully by next week I will have wifi and can write more about what is going on. Have a great week!!

Back to the real world

The past few weeks have been vacation and chaos. Shelby-Wayne is married. Seth is back from driving. We are back together, right where we need to be.

We were able to get our garden planted Monday. We both love to garden and it is fun watching plants pop up and grow. We use the food that we grow for our food storage so hopefully one day we will be stocked up enough to actually survive off of. Last year we canned a lot but I don't think we will do very well on three different kinds of pickles and jam. We actually did a lot more than that but hopefully we can add to it. We don't have a great place to store our food storage now so we are starting out slow until we get our house built next year. We have a pantry planned out that will fit all of the food storage we will ever need. Until then, we have a drafty mouse infested basement to keep things in. Not a very smart place to store food at all.

We are branding this weekend so we are definitely getting back into the swing of things at the ranch. We have to move cows to our summer pasture up in the black hills by the end of this month. Last year when we were moving cows home, our side by side trailer broke on the way home while I was driving it. Right behind me was Seth with the horse trailer and then Cody with the semi-truck. Cody just barely got the semi truck home because something went wrong with the radiator. Here we are almost a year later and we still don't have those things fixed, and we needed them done yesterday. That is usually how things go around the ranch. Hopefully things will slow down a bit, but only enough for us to catch up.

I decided when I started this blog that I was going to write things to help our families and friends get to know both Seth and I better. Every few weeks I will answer a few questions about us so everyone can learn who we really are.
This week the question I picked was, "Do you play a musical instrument, and if so, then which one?"
Seth used to play the drums in high school band but he no longer plays. We have his old drum set out at the ranch so maybe I can get him going again! I play the flute, piano, and violin. I starting playing the flute almost ten years ago. I can hardly believe that myself. When we used to live in Florida my mom taught all my brothers and sisters a little about playing the piano. When we moved to South Dakota there wasn't a lot of room for the piano so I skipped a few years until I moved to Newcastle. Donna has a piano that I enjoy playing every time I have a free moment. I am not very good but sometimes I help out with the primary at church. Seth bought me a violin this last Christmas and I have been working at it. It is much harder than the other two instruments but one day, I will be somewhat decent at it. We will see!

If there are any questions you want answered, comment on the link and I would love to answer them for you! See you next week!
